What is Solhive?

Three pillars, one platform.

Solhive bundles the optimization of PV generation, storage, EV chargers, heat pumps and switchable loads into a single controller — regardless of manufacturer, regardless of how large the fleet grows.

01

Energy Management

Maximize self-consumption instead of feeding into the grid. Solhive automatically controls battery, EV charger, heat pump and switchable loads based on solar yield, electricity price and grid-compliance rules.

02

Vendor-Independent

Driver architecture for Modbus, SunSpec, MQTT, REST and Home Assistant. You are not locked to a single inverter or charger manufacturer — Solhive talks to all of them.

03

Fleet Management

Solar installers manage their customer systems centrally from one console. Updates, monitoring, support and co-branding — like a beehive, many cells.

The difference

One system for the whole setup.

There are excellent niche tools for surplus charging and polished manufacturer apps. But between charging tool, inverter app and cloud portal, one question remains open: who actually optimizes the whole system? That is exactly where Solhive comes in.

vs. single-purpose tool

The whole system, not just the charger.

Tools like evcc solve PV surplus charging brilliantly — Solhive built its own charger drivers following their proven blueprints. But control does not stop at the wallbox: battery strategy, heat pump, switchable loads and the power budget at the grid connection all come from one place. For example: “car at 80 % by 7 a.m., charge the battery in the cheap night window, never overload the grid connection” — three jobs, one controller.

vs. manufacturer app

Free choice of hardware — today and when retrofitting.

Manufacturer apps end at the edge of their own product range. Solhive speaks Modbus, SunSpec, MQTT, REST and Home Assistant — mixed systems are the norm: Deye next to SMA, any wallbox, the heat pump via SG-Ready. And when a device gets replaced, your controller, history and settings stay.

vs. cloud EMS

Your hardware. Your data. Your code.

Commercial energy management systems live in someone else's cloud: subscription, data outflow, black box. Solhive runs on hardware in your own home, keeps controlling during internet outages, and the source code can be inspected. Cloud connectivity only where you want it: remote access and installer support.

Features

What Solhive does today.

Multi-Inverter

Deye, SMA, Huawei, Solax, Sungrow, Fronius and more. Pluggable drivers for open protocols.

EV Charger Load Balancing

Single-, two- and three-phase chargers with dynamic load distribution. Our own drivers, modeled on evcc blueprints.

Heat Pump Control

SG-Ready, midday block, flow-temperature boost on PV surplus. Pluggable heat-pump drivers.

Job Scheduler

“Car at 80 % by 7 a.m.”, “charge battery in the price window” — forecast-based, via web UI or Telegram.

Whole-Site Load Management

Grid-connection budget: chargers, battery grid-charging and loads share the available power — phase-aware.

§14a EnWG Compliance

German grid-operator curtailment done right: 4.2 kW cap, control signals, wattage reduction.

Battery Care

Midday charging strategy, charge-SOC limits, TOU (time-of-use) for Deye, Huawei, SMA and more.

Full Transparency

Every job explains itself: why is it (not) running? Live status, reason and event timeline.

White-Label / Co-Branding

Your own logo, colors and contact details for partners. Manifest-based, cryptographically signed.

Forecast & Analytics

Per-MPPT forecast, 24h weather strip, day/month/year statistics, CSV export.

Runs Locally at Your Place

Linux, Docker or Proxmox LXC. Keeps controlling without internet — your data stays at home.

Multilingual

Audiences

For solar installers and homeowners.

B2B · Partners

For Solar Installers

Solhive is your central platform for managing customer systems at scale — without every installation becoming a one-off special case.

  • White-label branding with your logo
  • Fleet console: all systems at a glance
  • Heartbeat monitoring + remote support
  • License management for tier models
  • Your own phone number and email in the end-user UI
B2C · At home

For Homeowners

Solhive runs on your PV system's computer (Linux, Docker or Proxmox LXC) and gives you full control over your energy.

  • One app for PV, battery, charger, heat pump
  • Self-consumption made visible — and controllable
  • Automatic midday charging strategy
  • Source-available — you own your data
  • Updates come from your installer
Run it

Runs on your hardware.

Solhive is software you operate yourself — no cloud subscription. Three ways, depending on what you already run:

Pilot-proven

Proxmox LXC

Lightweight Linux container on your Proxmox host — this is how our pilot systems run today. Lean, protected by snapshots and backups, cleanly separated from the rest of your infrastructure.

Docker

For NAS, mini PC or home server: Solhive as a container next to whatever you already run. Configuration and database live in volumes and survive every update.

Native Linux

Straight on Debian or Ubuntu as a systemd service — full control, minimal overhead. Ideal when there is already a machine working next to your PV system.

System requirements — measured on the running pilot

CPU 1–2 cores x86-64 · the pilot runs on a single vCore
RAM 2 GB the service actually uses ~220 MB — 1 GB is enough
Storage 16 GB install < 1 GB · database grows slowly
System Debian / Ubuntu 64-bit · LXC, VM or bare metal

Setup: guided wizard — pick your language, connect your inverter, go. Updates arrive with one click or from your installer.

Using Home Assistant? Solhive deliberately runs as an independent service alongside it and connects your HA devices as a data source — but stays fully functional without HA. A HA add-on is not planned.

Co-Branding

Your brand.
Our platform.

Solhive was designed as a white-label platform from day one. End customers see your brand, your logo, your contact details — Solhive works in the background.

Pilot partners in Germany already run their customer systems under their own branding on the Solhive platform. Every system pulls a cryptographically signed branding manifest every 6 hours and adapts itself — no update, no manual intervention.

Source-Available

License to rely on.

$ git remote -v origin https://code.solhive.energy/solhive/solhive.git $ cat LICENSE | head -1 PolyForm Perimeter License 1.0.1 # Read, audit, adapt locally — allowed. # Run it for your own PV system — allowed. # Turn the stack into a competing product — not allowed. $ pytest 2,500+ passed — rock-solid, on every release.

Solhive is source-available under the PolyForm Perimeter License — and consistently self-hosted: the code does not live with a big-tech platform but on our own Git instance at code.solhive.energy. We treat your system data exactly the same way.

Try it yourself

See Solhive live.

No install, no hardware: get your own fully functional Solhive instance for 30 minutes, with a simulated system — two inverters, battery storage, an EV charger and a balcony PV unit.

Create tasks, change settings, watch the controller work in real time.

It runs the same software as in production — so you always see the latest stable release of Solhive with all the newest features; only the devices are simulated.

🐝 Open the live demo →

Good to know: 30 minutes per session, after which the instance is reset automatically (changes aren't saved). At busy times there may be a short queue, and some system-critical settings are locked in demo mode.
